Water Polo U13s London League debut

A tight knit team of 7 played their first tournament in Division 2 of the London League on 22nd April. The first game was a bit of a shock as it was their first time playing in a 25m pool. However they adjusted and improved through the four games. In spite of having no substitutes they saved their best match until the end and beat coach Justin’s old club by a goal.

Loss Latymer 1 – 6
Draw Watford 3 – 3
Loss Northampton 2 – 5
Win Penguin 2-1

Congratulations to:

Big thanks to the parents for all their support too.

U13 Waterpolo development tournament

An intrepid 7 players competed in this tournament on the 26th November, meaning they had to keep swimming and treading water for three games without a substitute.

We lost the first game 3-7 to Barnet. They had a couple of strong players and it took us a while to work out how to limit their goal scoring.

In the next one we played really well and were 3-2 up against Croydon B, but conceded a heart breaking goal in the last few seconds to draw 3-3.

We won the last game against Lewisham relatively comfortably. So the final result was third overall.

I was delighted with the team’s gutsy performance and how much they improved over the course of the three games.

Water Polo U14s in second place in London Winter League Division 2

Haringey Aquatics U14s are standing at 2nd place after round one of Division 2 of the London Winter League. The team worked hard to beat Otter 3-2 and then had an easier game against Bexley. We were keeping up with Penguin initially but tired in the second half. We felt we could compete in the last game against Bexley, but did not have enough energy to really challenge them and lost 3-5 in the end. We only took a small squad of 8 (7 players in the water, 1 sub) so perhaps we should aim to take around 10 in future.

Rounds 2 and 3 are on the 28th January and 25th February. Keep the date free!

Water Polo U15 tournament results

Our U15s played in a friendly tournament in Croydon on Sunday the 24th. They weren’t at full strength due to a few players being ill, but they were in good spirits.

The first game was against Hillingdon Penguin who were quite strong and we lost 7 – 2.

The second game was against a weaker looking Barnet side, but by half time we were 5-1 down. The team knew they could do better and put in a really gutsy, and technically much better, second half to snatch victory 7-6.

They played well in the last game against Croydon B, but narrowly lost 5-7.

Well done to all the players. No more tournaments for a while now until the winter league starts.

First Competitive Win for Water Polo U15s

The U15s competed in the third and final tournament of the London League on Sunday 10th September in Croydon.

Results were:
Watford: Lost 0-6
Bexley: Lost 1-5
Croydon: Lost 2-7
Otter: Won 3-2

The team have done very well to get their first win. When we played our first London League Game back in May we lost 18-0. But they did not let this get them down and have hugely improved since then. This bodes well for next season when all but two of our players will still be eligible for this age group.

Congratulations to all the players!
